A practical family shortlist

the Luberon.

19 places worth considering for eight people — four adults, two over 75 and two under four — with an emphasis on outdoor settings, children’s food, views, vineyard experiences and manageable journeys from Cabrières-d’Avignon.

Drive times are normal-traffic road estimates from Cabrières-d’Avignon mairie, not live ETAs; allow another 5–10 minutes for August traffic. Menus, prices and lunch service were checked against published sources on 24 July 2026.

The useful bit

Book for noon, and ask for shade.

For eight people in August, try 12:00 or 12:15. Parking is easier, the terrace is freshly set and the restaurant has the best chance of giving you its shadiest table.

Nous sommes huit, dont deux jeunes enfants et deux personnes de plus de 75 ans. Pourrions-nous avoir une table en terrasse, bien ombragée, au calme et facile d’accès, s’il vous plaît ?
Avoid the crush. Gordes on Tuesday morning; L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue on Thursday and especially Sunday; L’Isle altogether during the mid-August antiques events.

This is a planning aid, not a guarantee of service. Seasonal restaurants alter menus, hours and closures. Follow the source links on each card and reconfirm when booking.
